Born July 2, 1894 in Budapest, Hungary.

Andre got his bachelor’s degree from the Hungarian Academy of Commerce in 1912. After that he immediately started working and even served in the war defending the Austro-Hungarian army.

One big part of Kertesz’s life was the time he was away at war. He saw tragic scenes that left him traumatized. Also, he liked to take photography of things that were seemed to be “unimportant” that people later lead to focus on.

He was a photographer because he found himself while taking photos and had a love for capturing images. Also, Kertesz liked to compare his images to other photographers and constantly see how he could improve.
Biography
1. Andre's style of photography is to tell a story with his photographs. He felt that the visual medium was a powerful one and one strategically shot photograph can convey emotions and feelings a lot better than words can.
2. He was first introduced into photography in 1912. However his first photograph ever published was in 1917 in the magazine Érdekes Újság, during World War I. Everyone first discovered him when they looked through the magazine and were intrigued.
3. The environment and way of life strictly influenced Andre. He liked to take pictures that had a defined emotion and meaning within the photo.
